Established in 1917, the Imperial War Museum is dedicated to everything related to the World Wars and military operations that Britain has been involved with since 1914. The museum operates a total of five branches across the UK, but this Lambeth site is the flagship, where visitors can get up close to weaponry like the famous Spitfire fighter plane and the Soviet-designed T-34 tank.
Personal diaries and letters reveal the harrowing realities of war, and carefully curated exhibitions have previously covered war reporting, radio as a form of resistance, and cartoon depictions of conflict, all aimed at giving a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made during times of war and the lessons these (should) teach.
