London has Finnish saunas, Moroccan hammams and Turkish steam rooms, so what makes a Russian spa different? The scientific bit is that the temperature is lower than at most saunas, kept to a mild 70 degrees, and as water is splashed against an iron furnace the steam it creates makes your skin sweat out toxins.
The best bit though is that after your treatment you can sit back with a shot or three of Russian vodka and snacks like pelmeni, crayfish and duck confit.
You can also enjoy a spot of "birching". Don't ask...
