Visit the home of the custard tart

The best tart in town?

Where: Santa Nata, 7 New Row, Covent Garden, London WC2N 4LH

Custard tart lovers rejoice - this cafe and bakery is entirely dedicated to Portuguese pasteis de nata and nothing else, although you can pop in for tea, coffee or a glass of port to imbibe with your tart. Santa Nata, which translates as 'Saint Custard' is named after the home of the very first custard tart in the parish of Santa Maria de Belem in Lisbon. The tarts are freshly baked throughout the day as you'll be able to tell from the welcome ring of the pastry chef's bell.
