Where: Senate House Library

The main library of the University of London and the School of Advanced Study, Senate House Library is one of the UK's largest academic libraries for arts, humanities and social sciences. Members have access to over 2 million books and for a fee you can join even if you're not a student. There is a varied programme of events, from research days dedicated to exploring migration and diasporas to exhibitions on the history of staging magic. From an architectural standpoint it is a splendid example of Art Deco design, and the building's past incarnation as the government's Ministry of Information inspired George Orwell's Ministry of Truth in the seminal Nineteen Eighty-four.
