Walk along a disused railway track

It’s London’s longest nature reserve, don'tcha know?

Where: Parkland Walk, between Alexandra Palace and Finsbury Park stations

This walk takes you along a disused railway track all the way from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace, via Crouch End and Highgate. Stretching out at around five miles, it’s London’s longest nature reserve.

Legend has it the ghost of a creature that was part man part ghost used to roam around the walk, but sadly this is nothing but an urban myth. What you will find, particularly if you’re green-fingered, are orchids, sycamore and fig trees.

There’s even a bat cave here, so you might spot one of these critters hanging upside down from an old tunnel. Walk quietly and if you’re lucky you’ll see a deer, a hedgehog or a fox!
