Where: Barts Cancer Institute
Visiting a cancer institute may not sound like the most fun day out but - bear with us - the Barts Cancer Institute runs walking tours of the Institute's laboratory, the university’s private grounds, Charterhouse’s old Almshouse, and the surrounding Charterhouse Square and Smithfield Market. It's actually a pretty fascinating tour, taking in St Bartholomew’s Hospital, one of the oldest working hospitals in the world, the history of the Old Anatomy Building, as well as giving you the chance to find out about the future of cancer research. Tickets are a fiver and all the proceeds go to towards researching cures for the disease.
