Christmas and music here combine harmoniously. The indelible melody popularly referred to as ‘Air on the G string’ opens this celebratory concert and is followed by Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite which is based on 16th-century dance tunes, here with a movement arranged for choir. Vaughan Williams’ medley of Christmas Carols is an enchanting sequence and Bach’s uplifting Magnificat will make a splendid conclusion, sacred and jubilant.
