From the 11-15th March, Craft Northern Ireland are coming over for an exhibition in Clerkenwell at Craft Central.

This is a free five day exhibition presenting the best of contemporary craft by makers living and working Northern Ireland and is the first overseas event for Craft Northern Ireland.

It will be a celebration of the beautiful work coming out of Northern Ireland and features sculpture, glass, wood turning and fabric work.

The overall exhibition is aimed at showcasing the very best designer-makers within the contemporary craft sector in Northern Ireland. Craft NI will offer a 'show within a show' entitled Perspective: Inspiration Unveiled; a dedicated installation exhibiting the work of 13 hand picked craftsmen and women from Northern Ireland, drawing attention to the wealth and cultural strength of artistic talent this unique province has to offer. From jewellery designers to sculptors, ceramists, weavers, glass blowers and furniture designers, there will be a wide array of disciplines represented.

Supported by the Creative Industries Innovation Fund, the exhibition will tie in with St Patrick's Day celebrations. This project is the first overseas event for Craft NI, and aims to develop the partnership between Craft NI and Craft Central and also to broker new partnerships with other leading London based craft organisations, with a view to expanding future export opportunities for makers. Sponsors for the launch event and exhibition include the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.
