Born from a love of costume culture and independent, original fashion, Secret Emporium aims to seek out designers who do something left-of-field. It aims to catch them when ideas and ambitions are fresh, creative and exciting and when designs have not been commercialised or sold out. The belief that everyone should have access to independent designers and be able to make that a viable choice over the high street is Secret Emporium’s inspiration. SE typically choses to support and champion young designers with the intent to promote what they sell and initiate collaboration, helping them launch their labels.

Now, after a successful summer tour, which included The Secret Garden Party and Wilderness Festival, culminating in a Christmas Market at Factory 7. Secret Emporium has been invited to stage a 10-day pop-up at BOXPARK SHOREDITCH. Showcasing this season’s top 20 British independent designers in the hand-curated space at Bethnal Green Road’s prime Boxpark location, Secret Emporium will be taking over 3 of the adjoining retail units. Conveniently situated by Shoreditch’s Overland Station on the very edges of the City the pop-up will run from Saturday 16th March until Sunday 24th March.

Highlights at the Boxpark Pop-Up will include Lizzie Burns who, 3 years ago was awarded Secret Emporium’s first ever scholarship. Working primarily in reclaimed leather Lizzie creates ethical, three-dimensional and abstract jewellery inspired by science and magic. We are anticipating new work as an exclusive first show at the Secret Emporium pop-up with a new collection using frosted Rhodoid.

Her label EABurns has previously caught the attentions of Nicole Scherzinger, Ellie Goulding, Eliza Doolittle and TEED and has featured in Harpers Bazaar and Marie Claire.

Inspired by road kill and taxidermy Tessa Metcalfe Jewellery finds beauty in London’s gutter. Tessa casts the feet of pigeons in gold and adorns them with rubies and pearls to create beautiful talismans of fine art jewelry. Tessa will be showcasing a new stone collection entitled ‘Delusions of Grandeur’. Recently featured in Vogue and Harpers Bazaar, Tessa is another of our favorites, and came on board with Secret Emporium in the summer of 2012 receiving an SE scholarship.

Other unmissable designers include:

Ali Forbes an RCA graduate who is exclusively launching her new collection ‘Urban Folk Lore.’ This collection features leather and metal lazer cut relief work inspired by Ali’s time on the design team of Swarovski in the Austrian Alps.

SJ Stylee who is currently enjoying a fevered surge in popularity with her label SPANGLED - featuring wild catsuits. Team them with her animal and jewel adorned sunglasses.

Shop Floor Whore who hails JESSE J as a fan of her turbans.

Rosita Bonita who will be showing an exclusive re-vamped range of her ‘Siren’ collection.

Spanglewear, who have branched into men’s caps with their usual hectic flavor.

Also confirmed are: Diane Turner, Yas-Ming, Puckoo Couture, Kate Gilliland, Wolf + Moon and Fox & Belle.

Secret Emporium will be coinciding the BOXPARK pop-up with the launch of their new website and online shop, a 5% off promotional code will be given to visitors to the pop-up to use online.

For Secret Emporium’s opening night on Friday 15th March visitors are invited to enjoy cake from Pomp De Franc and drinks from Belvedere Vodka with DJ accompaniment from Big In Japan residents Jay Karim & Michael Palmer. Regulars on Secret Garden Party's Pagoda Stage, expect a cooked up blend of beats with influences coming from the soul, funk & world of groove.
