SHIFT is a brand new exhibition at the recently established Hanmi Gallery in West London.
Launching on the 28th February, the exhibition includes individual works by 11 artists, all of whom share a common belief in the idea that art should describe an open-ended world. The title itself, SHIFT plays on this idea that the world is constantly moving, and changing around us.
Showing artists include well established artists Neal Tait who has previously exhibited work in various international group exhibitions as well as at the White Cube and Simon Oldfield Gallery. His work is well renowned for his playfulness Surrealism and dream-like quality. The other 10 emerging artists, to exhibit with Tait have all been recognised by him for the uncertainty in their art.
Stripped back in its pre-refurbished state, the Hanmi Gallery is due to undergo major restoration but is currently open to the public with a program of interim exhibitions, of which SHIFT is the 19th edition. The gallery is already well established in Seoul Korea and this is their London presence. Its exposed brick, half removed walls make the gallery itself an 'open' work, vulnerable to many readings and therefore, the ideal space for SHIFT.
