On Thursday 21 March 2013, the Hampstead Shops Campaign in partnership with the Hampstead School of Art launched the Hampstead Easter Egg Hunt in which hunters will be rewarded for taking the time to visit a number of Hampstead’s local, independent traders.

This is part of a wider national “Enjoy an Independent Easter” campaign to encourage more shoppers, especially families, to come to our village centre and participate in the Egg Hunt. The hunt is a way of mixing a fun outing with helping our local independent traders who have seen footfall decline year on year.

Groups of Independent traders are listed on an “Easter egg hunt map” which can be found at www.hampteadshopscampaign.co.uk and shoppers collect “eggs” (cute little Easter egg stickers that are placed on their maps) to complete the hunt. Once five egg stickers are collected, hunters must then find the bejewelled “Hampstead Egg”, a 3 foot high egg developed and painted by local artist Sarah John which is located on Flask Walk. They must then write the word on the case of the Hampstead Egg on their maps. They can then swap their maps for a chocolate lollipop (given to all children taking part) at Aubaine, a restaurant on Hampstead High Street. If hunters enter their details on the map and leave it with Aubaine, they will then be entered into a draw for a prize of special hair treatments from local indie, Gary Ingham Salon and Spa. At the end of the hunt, the Hampstead Egg and a 2.5” bejewelled egg will be auctioned to raise funds for the Hampstead School of Art and the Hampstead Shops Campaign.

Painted by Egg Artist, Sarah John, will be on display in Flask Walk, at the following times;

Mon – Fri: 10.30am – 5.30pm
Sat: 10.30am – 4.30pm
Sun: 11am – 5pm
