EAST is a weekend of arts and music to celebrate the re-opening of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This festival takes place on the weekend of 27th - 28th July which is the first anniversary of the London 2012 Olympics.

The Barbican and art producers CREATE London are to present a weekend of exciting arts and music inspired by the creative minds of east London and its cultural heroes and communities.

This event will fill the north of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with the flavours, style, creativity, sights and sounds of East London and will include art, music, theatre, literature, dance and food for all age groups to enjoy.

Exciting events featured in the weekend include: international music performances on the main stage; a Mini-Travelling Art Circus entitled The House of Fairy Tales which will present magic, stories, theatre and games; the Real Food Festival which will offer world-class cuisine from around the world presented by a number of London’s most famous street vendors and restaurants; the Art Car Boot Fair where East London artists will be signing their work; and Caught By The River which will showcase their passion for music, literature, angling and beer in the Park as they host distinguished musical and literary performances. In addition, the London Legacy Corporation in conjunction with the Barbican and CREATE London will host musical performances on the promenade, family trails, pop up theatre as well as picnics along the river, plus many more activities still to be announced.
