After a successful pilot project in Chicago, 21 Artists: London, an unprecedented arts project taking place in 3Space’s Blackfriars Hub, is set to take place from April 29-May 17. During that time, twenty one innovate, experimental and socially-driven artists from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and ages will be featured daily during the event. Among featured artists include dancers, musicians, performance artists, poets, painters, illustrators, architects, culinary artists. The project will be held at 58 Victoria Embankment, right on the Thames in central London, celebrating artists while bringing the arts to an unused space, engaging the public and local community groups, beautifying the internal environment and promoting the arts across the city. Featured Artists will be encouraged to step outside of their norms of creation, exploring the theme of transformation.

In collaboration with the 3Space, each hand-selected artist will create art in the space that will be displayed and promoted throughout the duration of the 21 Artists showcase. Facilitated by Meg Peterson, the Artist-in-Residence, the project provides artists across the city an opportunity to broaden their network, make art and collaborate outside of their comfort zones in the space.

Everyday throughout 21 Artists will be featured in the space to showcase their creative process by making artwork in the space. In this sense, the process is a large part of the product, exploring the similarities and differences in the creative process as it relates to artists of different backgrounds and disciplines. Peterson will document this process through a combination of interviews, videos, photographs and artistic renderings. Based on the nature of each artist’s work, artists may be paired together to collaborate, creating work together. Regardless, Peterson will create art pieces in response to the work of each featured artist. All work made in the space will be exhibited in the space on Tuesday, May 21st.

During the twenty-one days of the project to the exhibition, events will be held in and around the space that will be free and open to the public to view the artists at work. Visitors are invited to come in, enjoy the space and even in some cases, take part in the creative process with each artist.
