Looking for an exciting fitness challenge to take on for a good cause this summer? The NSPCC is urging people to take on The Gherkin Challenge, racing up the stairs to scale the 38 floors to the summit of London’s iconic Gherkin building to raise vital funds for the charity.

Taking place on the weekend of 22-23 June, The Gherkin Challenge offers a rare opportunity to enjoy stunning panoramic views from the building’s exclusive 40/30 bar, normally only accessible to private members.

For the competitive, there’s Summit Sunday – a no holds barred race to the top with no distractions. Or you can bring the kids along to the family morning on Saturday 22 June, complete with Everest Basecamp themed activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Speaking about the event NSPCC Head of Participation Events, Victoria Kellaway, said: “The Gherkin Challenge is the perfect opportunity for people to experience the stunning views from the top of this iconic and exclusive London landmark, whilst raising money for a good cause. You can choose to walk or run up the 38 floors to the top – take on your friends, family or colleagues or sign up as part of a team to make it a real challenge and raise as much as you can for the NSPCC!”

The entry fee for The Gherkin Challenge is just £20 per individual or £70 per team of four for Summit Sunday. For families taking part on Basecamp Saturday, the entry fee is £20 per adult and £10 per child. Children must be aged 8 or over to take part in The Gherkin Challenge, and adult participants are also asked to raise sponsorship.

For anyone who doesn’t fancy running up the 38 floors to the top, there is the option to purchase a ‘Prestige Lift Pass’ for £75 which will give you the chance to enjoy the views from the top with a glass of bubbly, and help raise vital funds for the NSPCC without the climb.

Funds raised from the event will help the NSPCC to protect vulnerable children through its projects and services including ChildLine – the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline and online service for children and young people.

Registration will be open until 23:59 on Monday 17 June 2013.
