Object of Fantasy – Wang Yuyang solo exhibition
Objects of Fantasy, a solo exhibition of Chinese avant-garde artist Wang Yuyang, features a selection of Wang’s recent practice including a brand new installation from the signiture Breathe series.
This exhibition reflects the artist’s unique vision across a range of works such as A Painting—Landscape (2010), subverting our conventional understanding of painting. Wang challenges standard perceptions by animating everyday objects, for instance in The Narrative of a Stack of Paper (2012), where he reveals the meticulous process of paper making.
Objects of Fantasy is part of Chinese Visual Festival, presented by China Culture Connect in partnership with King’s College London. This year contents include Wang Yuyang solo exhibition, 29 documentaries screenings and music performances. Artist Wang Yuyang (Artist talk: Wang Yuyang and His World) and four guests from the world of Chinese language documentary film making Zhou Hao (Emergency Room China) from Mainland China, Wu Wuna (The Dream Never Sets) from Taiwan, Tammy Cheung (Speak Up II) and Wong Yee Mei (This Pair) will be attending the festival Talks and Panel Discussions.
