Scribble: A Festival of New Writing

2013 will see a new venture for Such Stuff as we launch 'Scribble: A Festival of New Writing'. As cuts to the arts make it increasingly more difficult to produce theatre, Such Stuff recognise the need for talented new writers, actors and companies to have a professional and affordable platform on which to showcase their work.

On the weekend of Friday 31st May, we will be holding the ‘Scribble Box Festival’ at Avondale Theatre – a platform to show off this new writing. The weekend will be open to entries from anyone who wants to perform new, short plays, rehearsed readings, extracts from full-length plays that have been written, work under-development; anything new and exciting, we want to share it! This gives us the chance to not only offer you the chance to get projects off the ground or seen by the industry, but also the chance to raise funds for Such Stuff to continue to support and produce full-length new writing.

Such Stuff will select the pieces from the applicants with their panel of expert theatre practitioners. These practitioners are actively working in many genres of theatre and so, whereas other new writing festivals limit the entries to plays, we will receive musicals, comedies, one-person shows, physical theatre, dance....whatever you have, we want it! Whether you are previously un-published or have a raft of work to support you will make no difference - we will programme on the basis of the merits of each piece.
