Lover’s Rock Monologues

Celebrate 40 years of Lover’s Rock in the East End

Don’t miss Lover’s Rock Monologues from critically-acclaimed artists Janet Kay, Victor Romero Evans and Carroll Thompson. Following sell-out shows across London earlier this year Lover’s Rock Monologues comes to Theatre Royal Stratford East for a strictly limited run of four performances.

This hit show, featuring a live on-stage band is packed with classic British Lover’s Rock songs including Silly Games, At The Club and Hopelessly In Love. It combines great music with heart-warming and hilarious stories of growing up in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

It’s sure to spark fond memories and have you rocking in your seat!

In 1979, Janet Kay made history by becoming the first British born black female to have a reggae song at the top of the British charts with Silly Games. Carroll Thompson experienced similar success with I’m So Sorry shooting straight to number one in the British Reggae Charts and has gone on to create a series of subsequent hits, selling over 750,000 units worldwide. Victor Romero Evans began his career in the 1970s. In 1981 he recorded his biggest hit At The Club which topped the reggae charts for six straight weeks, he also had further number 1's with I Need A Girl and Miss Attractive.
