GREEN13 Collective presents an exciting piece of new written drama entitled BUTTERFLIES DON’T DO MATHS. It explores the influence other people’s actions can have over one’s choices, in this case following Andie, the main character, a strong woman who managed to surpass the obstacles and challenges encountered throughout four different stages of her life which are symbolically associated with the metamorphosis of the butterfly. Through her journey, she discovers that love, in its varied forms, has always been the central feeling from which she got the impulse for moving forward and considering alternative ways of life.
This original piece of drama incorporates an intriguing set design with video projections and thrilling contemporary choreography.

Following a number of successful performances including the Quarterhouse situated in the Creative Quarter in Folkestone, Kent (March 2010 - UCF Devising & Directing Week, May 2010 - Influx Arts Festival, April 2011 - public performance) but also Studio UTU at Timisoara National Theatre (June 2010), GREEN13 Collective now brings this exhilarating drama to Shoreditch.

‘Alexandra Roshu offers an intriguing and engaging performance, her debut directorial outing’
Andy Hurst

‘A powerful and thought-provoking piece of contemporary theatre’
Ethan Lewis Maltby

‘The Timisoara National Theatre inaugurated Studio UTU with the absolute premiere of the stage play AEROPORT by Stefan Caraman on Saturday, December 19, 2009. All performances that took place up here ever since have proved that this was indeed a much needed theatre space.’

Moreover, there will be a new addition to the night which will consist of the arts installation entitled LE PAPILLON taking place in the White Room and bringing together artists from different backgrounds by combining photography, interactive projection, costume & prop design but also instrumental music. The purpose of the prelude will be to initiate the spectator into understanding the four defining stages of transformation that the butterfly undertakes but at the same time it will be an opportunity for the audience and fellow artists to network and find out more about GREEN13 Collective’s future ventures.

The Butterflies are gearing up for June 2013 when they’re going to make their debut on the London stage! Come to the Courtyard Theatre in Shoreditch to witness the flutters of their wings!
