Al Mustafa Welfare Trusts 30th Anniversary Dinner ‘The Gift of Vision’

On Friday 7th June 2013 Al Mustafa Welfare Trust will be holding a very special dinner, not only as it is the charity’s first ever dinner in the UK, but it also marks a very special milestone- their 30th Anniversary. The aim of the dinner is to help towards Al Mustafa’s target of providing 10,000 free cataract operations and eye surgeries in 2013 to those that need it the most in developing countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.

There are thousands that have benefited from the free eye camps that Al Mustafa has been providing over the past 30 years. One example is that of Saleem, a 50 year old tea seller from Chiniot (Pakistan) who with the help of Al Mustafa was able to go back to work and support his family ‘I was diagnosed with cataract 2 years ago at the age of 48 and could not afford the cost of private surgery. I closed my tea stall for 2 years. I have 6 children to look after and feed. Al Mustafa set up an eye camp in my village in December 2012 where I received free cataract surgery. Now I am able to work again, my family is happy that I will be able to provide for them again’

Ikhlaq Hussain from Al Mustafa commented ‘The impact of our work is significant and our aim is to help people go back to their normal lives and become independent, productive individuals of their societies.’

The fundraiser dinner is set to be an inspiring and educational evening with a luxury 3 course dinner. There will be an amazing collection of special auction items on offer as well as live performances by Mesut Kurtis, Colin Nell (Football freestyler) and Abdullah Rolle. There will also be inspirational speakers including Mohamed Ali (CEO of Islam Channel), Sayka Hussain and many more.
