A special, enhanced tour of one of our nation's greatest landmarks within days of the June service celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s coronation 60 years ago. Includes a rare opportunity to visit the Library.

An opportunity to be guided by an expert the abbey’s floor with its coronation chair, shrines, memorials, architecture, cloisters and famous personalities. After a short break for refreshments in the new Cellarium Café, I’ve secured a rare opportunity to head inside the abbey to visit one of its treasure stores, the medieval manuscript and book collection. Head of the Abbey Collection & Librarian, Dr Tony Trowles will explain how the library came into existence and show us ancient vellum books, including the remarkably illuminated 14th century Litlyngton Missal.

Sung Evensong follows at 17.00. Visits will be over in time to stay on to enjoy the choir, if you wish.

This tour will be led by Mark King, a qualified London Blue Badge tourist guide.

NB – There is an entrance charge to visit the Abbey and Library for visitors (apart from those attending services) and places on Blue Badge guides' tours are necessarily limited by Abbey policy. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
