Come celebrate the launch of the Barnes trail

The Barnes trail, a new attraction for Barnes, will be launched on 22 June 2013. Join us at our launch event at 10 am at the Coach and Horses, where Zac Goldsmith MP will open the trail, then follow the route and take part in a family quiz. Complete the quiz and have the chance of winning a book token worth £10 from the Barnes Bookshop and a book token worth £25 for your choice of local school.

The Barnes trail is an historical walk around the highlights of Barnes village. The trail was devised to attract visitors to discover the sights of Barnes.

Shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants on the trail will be supporting the launch with attractions for walkers so don’t miss out!

About the Barnes trail:

• The Barnes trail has been made possible by funding from the Mayor of London, with the support of the Barnes Community Association and Richmond Council.
• The trail is a circular route of 2.3 miles and there are extensions around the river marked by wooden finger posts for those who want to take a longer walk.
• The route around Barnes village takes in the historical points of interest of Barnes as well as its attractions - the village pond, the riverside, the alleyways, the green and the common as well as pubs, shops, cafes and restaurants.
• The trail is indicated by metallic studs in the pavements. Historical points of interest are described on information plaques shaped like oars placed along the route. Each oar has a Quick Response (QR) code so that visitors with smartphones can find further information about the spot.
• A map, which will show the trail route and explain its points of interest, is available from local retailers and Rose House Information Centre.
