On 5 November 2013 A Night Under The Stars will present ‘The Mozart Experience’ – a gala concert featuring Mozart’s most enduringly popular works.

The music includes arias and duets from his operas, the final movement of his last symphony and, at the heart of the concert, his Clarinet Concerto – one of the most popular pieces of classical music today and a real Classic FM favourite.

The Orion Orchestra and Toby Purser will be joined on stage by three amazing British soloists:

Michael Collins is one of the world’s top clarinettists, having worked with many of the best orchestras and conductors. He’s just released his second recording of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto to great critical acclaim.

Baritone Christopher Maltman has sung in all the major opera houses, including Covent Garden in London. He’s particular known for his performances as Don Giovanni, and starred in the modernised movie adaptation of the opera directed by Kasper Holten, which doesn’t shy away from the sex and violence in the story.

Lucy Crowe has established herself as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation, and like Maltman and Collins works with the top conductors in the best venues. She be on tour this year singing Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate – an example of vocal fireworks if ever there was one! – and will also perform part of the work at NUTS.

The Mozart Experience – the receptions

The audience can continue their Mozart Experience by attending the pre- or post-concert receptions.

The pre-reception will encapsulate the sophistication of Mozart’s Salzburg, complete with a strong quartet performing the composers works. There will also be finger food, wine and traditional Austrian coffee cake!

Those attending the post-reception are invited to step into the world of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. A Night Under The Stars will recreate the party held in the ballroom of the Don’s palace at the end of Act I in the opera.

As described in the famous Champagne Aria, guests will enjoy glasses of fine fizz and excellent food whilst mingling with characters from the opera – including the masquerades – and soloists from the concert.

A reception that even party-boy Mozart would have been thrilled to attend!
