Hackney is in the midst of a jumble sale revival and on Sunday 4th August, local residents are taking to their front gardens and are setting up stalls to sell their forgotten treasures. Everything from vintage clothing and furniture, to homemade marshmallows will be available to purchase. Everyone in the community can take part, completely free of charge.

Bargain hunters can navigate their own trail through the streets of Hackney with the aid of a downloadable map providing each stall location. And with over 50 stalls confirmed, including a jumble fair inside Clapton Square and boats along the River Lea, this launch event is proving to be every bit as popular as the creative collective founders Unknown Variable had hoped.

Unknown Variable members include fashion blogger/producer Shoestring Stylist, graphic designer Tom Carwardine and artist-in-residence Oliver O’Keeffe.
Shoestring Stylist says "My childhood was spent at jumble sales, all the treasures one would encounter gave me the confidence and vision to understand that style wasn’t ever about money, it was and always will be about having fun and expressing yourself. This trail is as much about community spirit as nabbing a bargain, we are too quick to throw things away and replace with a new shinier less ethical product, this trend is well and truly reversing "

Unknown Variable collective says "We as a collective are passionate about recycling and making the most of the things we already have. Hackney is a great place to live, rich in culture and packed with creativity, this event further enhances and promotes the Hackney spirit."
