Baroque Encounter present a recital inspired by the Moral Cantatas of Telemann mixed with music from London’s Pleasure Gardens.
Moral improvement was the aim of the poetry at the core of Telemann’s Moral Cantatas, whereas the popular Pleasure Gardens allowed their visitors to enjoy all aspects of nature and life – even the seedier side.
Baroque Encounter are Glenn Kesby (counter tenor), Lauren Brant (recorders) and Claire Williams (harpsichord).
The performance will occur in Handel's own music room in the London house in which he lived from 1923 until his death in 1759.
