7:30pm Laurence Cottle
This exceptional trio is led by Laurence Cottle, one of the finest electric bass players this country has ever produced. His stunning technique and remarkably fluent and creative playing has been featured with innumerable artists including the Bill Bruford Band, Jim Mullen, Claire Martin, Jason Rebello and Tim Garland as well as the likes of Eric Clapton, Brian Eno, Gary Moore, Cozy Powell and Black Sabbath! As well as a consummate performer, Laurence is also an accomplished writer and arranger whose work is not only featured with his own, excellent, 16 piece Big Band but can also be heard on the soundtrack of various TV and Film productions including Kavanagh QC, Take A Girl Like You and the Jim Carrey movie special. Appearing with Laurie tonight are, not surprisingly, two of the finest jazz musicians in Europe, Mornington Lockett (Ronnie Scott Quintet, Jimmy Smith) on sax and drummer Ian Thomas (Eric Clapton, Sting). Highly recommended.

“Laurence Cottle…[A]World class talent…[with] .finely-honed skills” LondonJazz

10:30pm Alan Rushton
Alan’s drumming has been a feature of the British Jazz scene for more than 30 years now. His CV is vast, including stints with 60’s Jazz/Blues icon Graham Bond, Kiki Dee, Ray Russell, Slim Gaillard and a host more, and he was also resident drummer on T.V.’s PlayAway (remember that!). The quartet he leads tonight features the wonderful playing of saxophonist Mark Lockheart, pianist Liam Noble and long time collaborator Mick Hutton on bass. The music is very much in the swinging, classic, modern Jazz mould and well worth hearing.

"Lockheart is a consummate saxophonist" The Rough Guide to Jazz;
“[Noble] a brilliant pianist who hardly plays a solo without at least one turn of phrase that brings you to the edge of your seat" The Guardian
