Amadou Diagne Album Launch

Tonight Chilli Fried, London’s leading global beat session, is very proud to present the launch party for one of the finest albums of recent times. Smoky voiced, Senegalese born, Bath based singer guitarist Amadou Diagne‘s recently released second album Yakar (Waulk Records). Having previously backed such luminaries as Youssou N’Dour and Cesaria Evora, Amadou has now branched out on his own, delivering exquisite songs in a beautiful rich voice that soars from a deep bassy tone into a breathy falsetto. Yakar provides a beguiling take on acoustic West African folk-blues: daring and richly melodic, it’s been gaining praise from all quarters and at this special concert Amadou will be performing tracks from the album with an all star line-up, featuring many of the musicians who contributed to the recording session, including producer Griselda Sanderson (on violin and Swedish nyckelharpa), percussionist Modou Sarr (from Baaba Maal’s band), bass player El Hadj Kane and guitarist Daniel Gerrard, plus special guests Simo Lagnawi (vocals & guembri) and Abdoulaye Samb (guitar)
