Historic London camanachd are delighted to announce the 2nd London shinty festival! With confirmed teams from Cornwall, The Scots (army), and Multiple teams from North of the border this looks to be the biggest festival of shinty in London in living memory! There will be a 6 a side tournament followed by some 12 a side matches alongside live traditional music, refreshments and a chance to try the game out!
For the first time teams from as far away as Skye, Fort william and Ballachullish are aiming to bring teams providing some of the very best Shinty for the Capital to watch.
London Camanchd captain Graham Love said, “The teams down here feel they'd learn a lot from playing against Scottish opposition and we can imagine a lot of teams from the Highlands would have a great weekend in London.”
Matt Mossop Cornwall Captain said, “last year was great but this year promises to be even better”, with squads from Mabe and combined universities of Cornwall attending to add some more English Flavour.
A number of English folk clubs and singing groups are involved in co-ordinating a programme of live music after the games and an open traditional session accross the afternoon providing the perfect companion to this fast paced game.
With the founding of the English Shinty Association this year, providing support for English based clubs, this seems the perfect time to really highlight the sport in London, and so we hope that young and old, those familiar with it and new to the game will all come along and see some superb action!
