THE GUARDIAN

BRENDAN BENSON needs little introduction. A co-founding member of supergroup The Raconteurs, well known for their no.1 smash hit single “Steady as she Goes”, (co-fronted by Brendan and Jack White (The White Stripes), BENSON has released critically-acclaimed albums throughout the 90’s & 00’s.

Born on the 14th November, 1970, in Royal Oak, Michigan, Brendans’ musical approach is meticulous, craftsmanlike, fastidious, being cited as one of the greatest American songwriters according to Mark Beaumont of the NME. Influenced by Elvis Costello, The Beatles and David Bowie to mention a few, his music is charged with hooks and wit. Never failing to capture the attention of the critical plaudits there has always been something quite brilliant, quite burnished about his songwriting.

With his debut album, One Mississippi, released on Virgin Records in 1996, Benson grew accustomed to doing things alone proving himself not only as a great songwriter but multi-instrumentalist as well. Following up his debut with Lapalco in 2002 and alternative to Love in 2005, he took a brief hiatus touring and releasing two albums with the Raconteurs: this perhaps also marked the beginning of a change: the catalyst that would set in motion the events and relationships that would inspire his last album “What Kind of World” (LOJINX 2012).

Supporting BRENDAN BENSON on his UK & European Tour are Lojinx label-mates the FUTURE MONARCHS. Originally from Chicago the group came together combining Lord’s polished hook-infused pop with Anderson’s earnestly organic singer/ songwriter romanticism. Influenced by 60’s British Invasion pop, Laurel Canyon folk and indie rock, their debut E.P entitled “Weird Weather” set for release on the 19th August features six excellently crafted tracks: Evil Art, Landslide, My Old Ways, Cigarette Smoke and Lydia.
