The well-known romantic pianist plays a beautiful programme of works by Debussy, Schumann and Rachmaninov.
Mikhail will play a selection of Romantic music including Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque, with the classic Clair de Lune as its 3rd movement. He will play the Fantasiestücke by Schumann, a serenely beautiful and thought provoking set of eight pieces narrating the story of Florestan and Eusebius, the imaginary personae – one brash, one melancholic: the two sides of a bi-polar personality – who inspired his composition.
After the break, Mikhail will play the virtuosic 9 Études-Tableaux Op.39, by Rachmaninov – his last composition while he was still in Russia, greatly influenced by Scriabin.
