Exhibition title: She Came Through The Bathroom Window – An
exhibition by Paul Tecklenberg

This is Morden Hall Park’s second contemporary art exhibition. The work is produced by Paul Tecklenberg, a London based artist. Tecklenberg will be doing two consecutive exhibitions here at Morden, this being the first.

This new body of work - made especially for Morden Hall Park - enquires into the grey area between looking and not looking. These works also explore the space between public and private, day and night, inside and outside. The images are a combination of photograms of net curtains combined with negatives, stencils or drawing enlarged on top. Because of the fluid nature on net curtains, each image is different to the next so therefore each artwork is unique.

The title ‘She came in through the bathroom window’ is the name of a Beatles song about a girl who went to Paul McCartney’s house in St. John’s Wood and found a ladder in the garden and climbed through the upstairs bathroom window. (She stole a pair of his jeans!) This alludes to the ‘window like’ nature of the images and also the ‘window like’ nature of the whole exhibition space.
