The Sardines Gig

This is all about a happy, social and tasteful Sardinhada: a full-on Portuguese Sardines BBQ!

FOOD
Crispy, perfectly small sized and beautifully gifted with fine oils, thus good mood guaranteed for the whole evening, sardines are the highlight of this flavoursome and musical feast. And there's plenty more to choose from such as:

The sumptuous Alheira: originally from Trás-os-Montes region (north east of Portugal), this is a unique cured sausage made essentially from game meat, bread and garlic. Do make sure you've your forks and knives straight up.

The popular Chouriço and Portuguese Black Pudding, yes, are also on the menu!

And ideally for vegetarians only we'll have a white semi-hard grilled cheese served with dressed salad and aromatic potatoes.

CHEESE
Cheese options, vegetarians definitely welcome here too, range from last event's very sought-after São Jorge and Serra da Estrela to a yellow pearl named Queijo Amarelo da Beira Baixa (by the way it was awarded gold medal at the World Cheese Awards back in 2011).

A special note: rustic and corn bread will accompany all dishes.

SWEETS
Hold your breath now please. The brand new House of Treats (a little wooden greenhouse somewhere in the garden) will be nicely decorated with Portuguese Custard Tarts, Rice Cakes and another mouth-watering surprise. Plus for all the coffee lovers, brewed espresso will be available to order from the corner window.

DRINKS
Drinks wise the choices are varied and particular at the same time. White Peach Sangria, Red Wine from Alentejo, Super Bock Stout, Wild Cherry Liquor (Ginginha), amongst others, will refresh your soul and free up your moves for the music.

MUSIC
The stage will witness live acts with sounds from Angola, Portugal, Sweden and England. Expect a joyful journey around afro-tropical R&B, pop indie-rock, and alternative garage. Throughout the day well-picked rootsy and contemporary Portuguese tunes will be played on the background.

GIFT BAGS
To finish off the day we've crafted unique gift bags for you to take home some of the colours and flavours of Portugal. Take a pick from each of the wines, cured sausages and cheeses. All bags will come with a Favaíto (muscat wine) included. Enjoy!
