Erskine, Hall & Coe is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the work of Hans Coper, Ruth Duckworth and Lucie Rie. The exhibition will comprise of more than 20 works and will run from the 11th of September through the 3rd of October 2013.
Hans Coper, Ruth Duckworth and Lucie Rie were refugees who had travelled from Continental Europe and settled in Britain in the late 1930's. They each established studios and worked in London. Duckworth stayed in Britain until 1968, whilst Coper and Rie were to remain there for the remainder of their lives.
All three artists knew each other and were familiar with each others' work. Some of the items in this exhibition were made during the time that their careers overlapped in Britain.
Their work is owned by many prominent collections worldwide, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Sainsbury Collection, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Tokyo, the Smithsonian Institution of American Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Institute of Chicago.
Our exhibition will be viewable from Monday through Saturday, 10:00 - 18:00, and there is no admission fee to attend.
