The Invited

The Invited is a new one-act opera by Opera Room Productions, a young company dedicated to producing original, modern operas that remain rooted in classical traditions.

Set in the early stages of the First World War, it is a Gothic tale involving Emily and Violet, two sisters from a wealthy family who have been left alone and isolated in the family house in Suffolk. News on the carnage of the war has started to seep back home and Violet appears to have gone mad, claiming Zeus has impregnated her and that Greek gods are returning to the earth to cleanse it of man's failures. Emily is rational, rooted in science and so refuses to believe her. However both of them have seen strange figures in the trees.
