A new, bilingual & devised play based on the Papin Sisters murder & trial and Jean Genet's classic 'The Maids'

Moving Theatre and the newly formed Two Tongue Theatre company bring you this modern take on the classic story of "The Maids" by Jean Genet.

Folie à Deux (or "shared psychosis" in psychiatric terms) is a bilingual, devised piece that will explore language and the tie it can create amongst people who speak the same one, as well as the divide with those who don't. The piece will explore accents and misunderstandings as well as purposeful barriers that language can help form.

Free will and the notion of class will be the thin red line running throughout the piece that will merge audio, video, archive and physical acting.

In an effort to blur the audiences expectations, the piece will merge the true story of the "Soeurs Papin" and the ficticious play inspired by the real facts, written by Jean Genet post WWII.

This dark urban tale will keep you at the edge of your seats and the originality of the mix of languages paired with the actor's physical skills means it will be accessible for both English and French speaking audiences.
