Rhythms of Life is a homelessness charity that aims to provide sustenance and support for those in need. It was established in Hackney in 2008, and has grown to be a London-wide charity that distributes food 365 days a year to rough sleepers, the homeless and those struggling on low incomes and benefits.

Homelessness in London is on the increase. A combination of government cuts to services and welfare, rising unemployment and insufficient affordable housing has increased pressure on vulnerable Londoners. For many, the inevitable outcome of this economic pressure is homelessness and sleeping rough. In 2012, there were 6437 people sleeping rough on London's streets.

Rhythms of Life's main focus is on providing food for these vulnerable Londoners. From March 2008 to June 2013, the charity has served more than 88,400 hot meals and 176,000 sandwiches to those without homes and those on low incomes - feeding around 9,000 people each year. The charity also provides clothing, help with finding shelter and further assistance through connections with other charities. According to Trussell Trust, the UK’s biggest provider of food banks, the number of people in the UK who receive food aid has tripled.
The need for this kind of charitable aid is more acute than ever.

Rhythms of Life is run by a dedicated team of volunteers that devote their time and skills to ensure smooth administration of the charity. The charity welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds and walks of life. To continue to achieve its goals in supporting the homeless, Rhythms of Life is always in need of volunteers' time, donations of food, clothing, blankets and toiletries, and financial support.
