This Park Night invites artist Leslie Thornton to screen several of her acclaimed film works, in a programme specifically created for the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013 designed by Sou Fujimoto. The evening includes the UK première of her new film work, Luna Following the screening, Leslie Thornton will be in conversation with artist James Richards.

Leslie Thornton's works address the interplay of cinema, video, installation and improvisation. She has exhibited worldwide at institutions, galleries and festivals such as the Tate Modern (2010), MoMA (2011), the Whitney Biennial (2008), Documenta 12 (2007), Winkleman Gallery (2013 and 2011), Moving Image (New York and London, 2011), Marian Goodman Gallery (2007) and Barbara Gladstone Gallery (2011). Her work is in many permanent collections and she is winner of several prizes and awards, including the Maya Deren Lifetime Achievement Award and three Rockefeller Fellowships. Thornton is a professor at Brown University, in Rhode Island, USA.

James Richards is an artist living and working in London. Recent solo shows have been held at Rodeo Istanbul (2013), CCA Kitakyushu (2012) and Chisenhale Gallery (2011). Recent Group exhibitions include Otherwise Unexplained Fires, Malmö Konsthall (2013); Frozen Lakes, Artists Space, New York (2013); and The Encyclopedic Palace, 55th Venice Biennale 2013. He is currently working in Berlin on the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin programme and was awarded the 2012 Jarman Award for film and video.
