The New Wave 2013 Tour

The New Wave is a cross section of the most interesting and exciting new acts in the country. Following a sold out London residency throughout 2013, and nine late-night shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, the New Wave heads back out on the road for five further-flung shows this autumn/winter.

The nucleus of this year’s tour is made up by JAMIE DEMETRIOU, CLAUDIA O’DOHERTY, & LIAM WILLIAMS; three incredible cutting-edge acts tipped for future stardom. They will be joined by a selection of other brilliant up-and-coming performers, alongside some extra special guest MCs.

JAMIE DEMETRIOU is a character act like no other. His solo debut was a critical hit and total sell-out at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe. Having starred in his own series of Channel 4 Comedy Blaps earlier this year, Jamie is one of the most impressive natural talents around. “A new Steve Coogan in the making” (Independent).

Having made a name for herself in her native Australia, CLAUDIA O’DOHERTY is now plying her trade on these shores. She too starred in her own series of Channel 4 Comedy Blaps, and last year picked up an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination for her show ‘The Telescope’. O’Doherty combines a loveable stage persona with genuine stylistic innovation. “Refreshingly original" (Observer).

LIAM WILLIAMS - Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee 2013 - offers one of the most intelligent and distinctive stand-up voices around. Following a widely acclaimed solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, and an appearance on Russell Howard’s Good News, he has already been commissioned as a guest columnist in The Guardian, and is set to be featured by BBC Online later this year. “The most exciting act from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe” (Guardian).
