For two nights only (November 18th and 20th) we will be exploring some of the greatest love stories classical literature and the opera repertoire has to offer.

The evening will be kicked off with a collection of some of opera's greatest classic love songs. This will then be followed by a sparkling new composition,Eros & Psyche.

Eros and Psyche is a brand new opera fresh from the Grimeborn Festival, composed by Kirsten Morrison with libretto by Buffy Sharpe and directed by Iris Theatre's Artistic Director Daniel Winder. Based on the old Greek characters of Eros (Cupid) and Psyche (his wife) this work is set in the 1950's long after the original myth finishes...

This new piece explores the timeless theme of love; from early infatuation, to the thrill of forbidden love, to the humdrum abiding love that grows between two people who chose to spend a lifetime together. Shown through the feelings and words of Eros and Psyche as they sing to themselves, argue with each other and yearn for a modern woman who narrates the piece.
