Followed by a Q&A with director Matt Hulse and lead actor Samuel Dore (the Q&A will be interpreted into British sign language for the hard of hearing)

On Monday 25th about one deaf man’s 3,000 mile cycle trip from Scotland to the Arctic Circle. The film is based on the true story of James Duthie’s memoir ‘I Cycled Into the Arctic Circle’, which was written in 1951 and lay undiscovered for decades.

Director Matt Hulse's film Dummy Jim delves into a human adventure like no other. Together with deaf actor and filmmaker Samuel Dore, Hulse set out on a journey mirroring that of deaf Scotsman, James Duthie. The film is a virtuosic blend of fictional and documentary elements; reconstructions in Super8 film, playful animations and archive footage from the countries traversed.

The rhythmic editing and unique visual style takes into account the deaf audience, with an exceptional soundtrack by The One Ensemble as an added extra for the hearing to complete the experience. November, Oval Space Cinema Club is proud to present Dummy Jim; an epic tale
