Family Concert for ages 7+ based on the book War Game by Michael Foreman

Presenter Rus Pearson and musicians from Britten Sinfonia take you on a journey with a group of boys from the east of England who travel to the trenches of northern France. On Christmas Day, 1914 something remarkable happens as the German and British armies stop fighting and meet in the middle of no man’s land. The enemies talk, play football and become friends. But the war isn’t over, the two sides resume fighting and the group of Suffolk lads are ordered to charge across no man’s land…
Combining existing repertoire and a new commission by Tim Watts, Songs of No Man’s Land explores the themes of friendship, loss and remembrance which surround the Great War.

The concert will include songs for the audience to join in with. Although you don’t need to learn these before the concert, you can listen to them on the Britten Sinfonia website.
