Shoppers at The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware will be able to celebrate Chinese New Year in style as the centre has teamed up with the SAI School of Harrow and Penniwells Riding for the Disable Group to provide a special Chinese themed event to mark the start of the Year of the Horse.

From 1pm, the SAI School of Harrow will be offering little shoppers the opportunity to take part in a specially themed Chinese arts and crafts workshop.

What’s more, to literally bring the year of the horse to life, those who walk outside the scheme to the centre’s car park will be able to meet the one and only Sunny the Shetland pony, Penniwells Riding for the Disable Group’s mascot, as the charity will be raising vital funds to continue their incredible work in the local area.

Chinese New Year, also known as the spring festival, is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar and has many traditions. This year, the Year of the Horse, begins on 31st January and lasts until the 15th day of the Chinese calendar month when the moon is at its brightest – this is when the lantern festival with the traditional dragon dance takes place.
