Umpacatum Feat Adriano Adwale and Special Guest Dele Sosmi

This collaboration begins an exciting and unique opportunity to listen, dance and to enjoy the mix of such strong musical traditions coming from Brazil and Nigeria. Respecting this legacy Umpatacum and Dele Sosimi mix contemporary and traditional elements to create a vibrant, up-tempo and dynamic performance.

Adriano Adewale, is from Sao Paulo‚ Brazil, moved to London in 2000. He was introduced to Antonio Forcione and soon became part of the Antonio Forcione Quartet which has been performing all over the world. He has also collaborated with many artists including, Seu Jorge, Monica Vasconcelos, Andy Sheppard, Tuti Moreno and many more. Shared the stage with Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), Tcheka (Cape Verde) and supported Cesaria Evora, Airton Moreira and Flora Purim, Jools Holland, Seu Jorge, and Boubacar Traore. In 2007 he formed international world-jazz quartet the Adriano Adewale Group releasing their acclaimed debut album SEMENTES in 2008.They have just released their latest cd, Raízes.

Dele Sosimi: His career began when he joined Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 (1979–86). Sosimi then created Positive Force band with Femi Kuti with whom he performed from 1986 to 1994. In both bands he was keyboard player, also musical director taking care of re-orchestrating and arranging music as well as handling the recruiting and training of new musicians.Based on Afro-beat Dele's music is a blend of complex funk grooves, Nigerian traditional music (including hi-life), African percussion, underpinning the jazz horns and solos from other instruments, as well as rhythmical singing. His keyboard work can be heard on Fela's several albums, as well as Femi's ones. Dele has also performed often with Tony Allen.

His performances include The Montreux Jazz Festival, Joe Zawinul's Birdland (Vienna) the Treibhaus (Innsbruck ), the Ollin Kan Festival (Mexico City), Canada Afrobeat Summit (Calgary, Canada), Festival Musicas Do Mar and Festival Musicas do Mundo (Portugal), and many more.
