The event is dedicated to Novruz – Celebration of New Year in Azerbaijan.

Novruz is an ancestral festivity marking the first day of spring and the renewal of nature. It promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families as well as reconciliation and neighbourliness, thus contributing to cultural diversity and friendship among people and different communities.

This event is organised in partnership with The Embassy of The Republic of Azerbaijan.

Fidan Hajiyeva was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. She began her education in the piano class of the Bulbul Music School and then transferred to the vocal faculty of the Baku Music Academy, where she went on to complete a post-graduate course. Fidan also studied at the Music Academy of Chigiana, Italy where she won first prize in the final international competition. She is currently studying and extending her repertoire with the Italian mezzo-soprano Bruna Baglioni.

Since 1996 Fidan has been a leading opera soloist at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Her repertoire on the theatre stage includes leading roles in Carmen, Aida and Il Trovatore. She also won roles in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Rigoletto and La Traviata. In 2000 Fidan represented the Azerbaijan Republic in the Turksoy Festival, returning once more in 2009. She went on to sing Carmen and other concert programmes at the Turkish State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Mersin, along with other performances at concert halls and theatres in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara and Antalya (Aspendos).

Fidan recorded her first album Jealousy and Love in 2003, singing national and international songs in seven different languages. More recently Fidan has introduced Azerbaijani music to many countries including Germany, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and Italy. In 2011 Fidan performed Carmen both in Turkey and in Baku, together with a solo concert at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 2011 she performed Aida in Baku, together with a joint concert with French tenor Jean-Francis Monvoisin, followed closely by a workshop in Italy to study and perform in Puccini's Suor Angelica as part of the Summer Festival of Montefiore Conca near Rimini. Fidan's talent was recognised with the award in 2006 of the title Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan by the President of Azerbaijan.
