Kicking off on International Women’s Day, Wowzers Festival is a community-led event celebrating the creativity of women and girls around the globe. Over two inspirational days on 8th-9th March, Wowzers Festival will play host to an exciting array of activities – from workshops and interactive talks to musical performances, comedy and late-night DJs.

In its inaugural year, Wowzers Festival is an independently organised fringe event running in parallel to Southbank Centre’s Women of the World conference. As a community response to the need for a dynamic, inclusive and fresh approach, it will create a space for all corners of feminism in order to advance emerging issues and to nurture up-and-coming talent, while recognising the intersections with race, class, disability, age and LGBTQ issues.

Held at the newly-opened LSE Student Union building in Aldwych, Central London, some of the event highlights include a Saturday evening of live entertainment courtesy of The Girls Are and Carousel, with DJs from Fanny Pack and Bad Reputation. Sunday night brings packed line up of musical acts curated by Girl Germs, with performances from Actual Crimes, Woolf, and Big Joanie. During the afternoons, workshops and talks will be led by For Books’ Sake, Let’s Start a Pussy Riot, Hollaback London, Chayn Pakistan, Irreverent Dance, and more.

Want to join the movement? The event is completely free to attend, although advance registration is required. Visit website to book your free ticket. You can also join the community on Facebook (facebook.com/wowzersfest) and Twitter (@WowzersFest).
