As part of Swadhinata Trust's series of talks/seminars presenting papers on Bengali research findings carried out by academics and authors the Trust in association with the Rich Mix Centre will facilitate an academic debate titled 'Freedom: at what cost?' to discuss what freedom means to people based on the recent pro-democracy activities taking place around the world including Bangladesh (Shahbagh youth uprising: Bengal spring) with a panel of 1 keynote speaker, 2 respondents and Q&A session with a Chair.

The Liberation war of Bangladesh has displayed extraordinary bravery and exemplary patriotism of those who laid down their lives to give birth to the new country that was born. Sadly however, as is often the case, due recognition is not given to many valiant fighters and history falls short of depicting the reality that was at that point in time. One such unsung hero of the Bangladesh liberation struggle was Major Gen. Khaled Mosharraf - few of the younger generation are aware of the instrumental role he played in motivating, training and leading people to the front lines. A short documentary footage titled 'Major Khaled's War' was shown at the British Library in 2012 as part of their expose on Bangladesh.

To conclude the seminar, this short film will be screened, after which the floor will be opened up for the Q& A session.
