The Merely Players' exciting summer season of Shakespeare: Henry IV Part I, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night.

Merely Shakespeare, a repertory company from The Merely Players, announce their summer season of play at The Cockpit theatre. It opens with the company’s first performance of a history play, Henry IV Part I, and culminates with an exciting production of Twelfth Night. The season also sees Artistic Director of All the Pigs, Sam Carrack, guest directing As You Like It in June.

The actors. The words. The story.

“The play’s the thing”.

Led by director Scott Ellis, The Merely Players have developed an impressive reputation for impeccable text work and pacey storytelling. The unique style, honed in acclaimed productions of Henry V, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet, now leads to its biggest challenge yet: Merely Shakespeare.

A core company of twenty actors will perform a different Shakespeare play each month for one night only, at The Cockpit. The past three months have seen extremely successful performances of The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth.

The Merely Shakespeare Company has been created to bring energy and vitality to performances of Shakespeare’s plays in such a way that puts the text first.

Discount booking options if you book for more than one performance.
