“Wildlings”, “Wilding or Wildling….a plant sown by natural agency” (Oxford English Dictionary).

This exhibition will show photographs and paintings by Paul Debois and Lynn Keddie with the commentary by Alys Fowler celebrating the ordinary everyday weed or wildling. However much we try to tame our cities, to bound our flora between concrete and tarmac, to house them in flower beds or pots, they escape. Paul photographs document wild plants growing in unusual circumstances, while Lynn evolves these unique visions of weed into artworks. At the same time, Alys’ commentaries complete this unique journey, inviting the viewer to take notice of the botany, history and geography in an urban context.

The opening will be celebrated on the 24th May at 6:30pm. During this event Paul, Lynn and Alys, will be available to answer all guest’ questions while the Pop up Bar will serve botanically brewed cocktails and wild edibles.

This event will be part of “Where the Wild Things Grow” an exciting joint project by the award winning journalist Alys Fowler, painter Lynn Keddie and photographer Paul Debois in collaboration with Oxford House within the annual Chelsea Fringe Festival 2014. There will be various events at Oh! celebrating the ordinary or everyday weed in an urban context, including, “Your Wildest Wildling” children photo competition, ‘Walks of Wildlings’ artist leaded walks and the Pop-Up Café and Restaurant. Also, on the 18th of May, BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time will be broadcasted from the Oh! Theatre.
