An art collection that contemplates on the myth of Andromeda will be presented from 29 May to 8 June 2014 at the Brick Lane Gallery, London. The collection is entitled ANDROMEDA LIBERATED and it is the second and concluding part of Dimitra Viveli’s negotiation of the Andromeda myth. While the first part, LIBERATING ANDROMEDA, denied a world of fallacy and deception and set out to claim a more genuine alternative to the universe, this concluding part seeks to trace the reality transmutations that come about after sacrifice has been cancelled out, giving way to unaltered truth and beauty to flourish and reign.

In a manner consistent to her previous work, the artist employees colours and shapes that have an essential, hermeneutic role, which is partly instinctive/expressive and partly disciplined, serving a philosophical purpose. This active exchange between visual art and idealistic philosophy is seen as a process of forming and (re)negotiating identity, internalizing genuine meaning, and revealing the semiotics and hermeneutics of a reality that is equally physical and imperceptible.

The artist tends to accompany her paintings with 17 syllable poems, which anchor the problematics of each work.

The ANDROMEDA LIBERATED collection is presented as part of the ART IN MIND group exhibition.
