To celebrate the rediscovered love for Chardonnay, the 1853 Club, a pop-up wine bar experience by Hardys wine, opens its doors in London to celebrate International Chardonnay Day on 23rd May 2014, with the help of musician and cheese maker, Alex James.

Those curious about wine are invited to embrace the great and the good of delicious Australian Chardonnay and expand their knowledge and palates at this two day pop-up in Central London. Guests can ease into the Spring bank holiday weekend and sample the diverse menu of Hardys’ Chardonnays, alongside a specially paired menu of Alex’s very own artisan cheeses from the ‘Alex James Presents’ range.

Offering budding sommeliers and wine fans alike the chance to learn more about the grape, guests will also be given the unique opportunity to set their taste buds tingling and experience intimate and light-hearted Chardonnay and cheese pairing sessions, hosted by wine experts, Miss Bouquet and Winebird.

Tickets can be booked at £12.50 each and include a glass of sparkling on arrival, an exclusive half hour tasting session of three Chardonnays with Alex James’ matching award-winning artisan cheeses, plus a wine token to redeem in the bar post-tasting for a chilled glass of choice. For those just popping in or keen to try something new, friendly waiters will be on hand to give tasting tips and recommendations on selecting the perfect wine choices to suit personal tastes – or for those who just can’t decide on one glass, why not try a wine tasting paddle with matching cheeses?
