Walworth is not a place you’d usually think of as home to exotic birds, acres of landscaped gardens, erupting volcanoes or lions, tigers and giraffes. But over 180 years ago, not far from the Walworth Road, lay one of London’s very early public zoos. However, it was much more than that. Come and discover the weird and wonderful delights of the Surrey Zoological Gardens. Includes original material from the Cuming Museum’s collections.
John Harvard Library is fully accessible.
